Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

I was going through notes looking for working RVer tips to include in this issue. Here are some critically important ones that I decided to put right up top for you.
  • What employers really want to know: Why should I hire you? (Make sure you know the answer and can tell them.)
  • If you want a job, speak up and ask for one.
  • A great resume may get you the job. A great attitude may help you keep the job.
  • A great attitude can help you get the job, even if your resume is iffy.
  • Use full words instead of abbreviations. Don't make employers guess what you mean.
  • When it comes to your previous employers, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
  • Stop begging. Employers usually don't like to hire desperate job seekers.
  • Take a minute to say "thank you." Let your interviewer, employer, and contacts know you appreciate them.
  • Take some time to think about a job offer. You usually have a couple days before you need to accept or reject it.
In honor of National Public Lands Day, Saturday, September 30, 2017, is a fee-free day for all federal public lands and many state parks. This includes admission to the parks, but does not include campground fees.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Agricultural Jobs for Campers and RVers: Jobs Involving Plants and Animals

Many jobs for RVers involve working in agriculture. It is a diverse industry. You may have heard of RVers working the sugar beet harvest or tending to a Christmas tree sales lot. But, have you thought about all the jobs at rodeos? Pet sitting and property caretaking are two more areas to consider. One of our readers is a traveling taxidermist. We have a section of articles on the website about a bunch of different kinds of work that involves plants and animals.

Working RVer Tip -- Co-Workers Don't Need to be Friends

You'll find some co-workers are a joy to be around. You may remain good friends long after the job ends. Other co-workers, well, let's just say that you'll limit your time around them as much as you can. Expect to get along with those you work with, but don't expect to be best buddies with all of them.

A Good Flea Market Guide Tells You More Than the Market’s Name and Location

When we want to find a flea market, our first go-to resource is a printed-on-paper flea market directory. We do search on-line, too. But, even now, we find ourselves in many places that don't have reliable, high-speed internet. What's more, Bob and I both find it easier to use a book for flipping pages back and forth when comparing markets than to have a bunch of website pages open at once.

Working RVer Tidbit

What a difference perspective makes. When dealing with full-time RVers, a job that lasts six months to a year, may be considered a "long term commitment." With non-RVers, they may view a year as not sticking to the job very long.
