Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Minnesota hires 3000 workers for its state fair. That is according to an Associated Press article in the local newspaper. It said they've had an increase in the number of people applying for the jobs and attributed it to the economy. I can't help but wonder if it has to do with an increase in full-time RVers who've discovered fairs are an excellent place to find work for a few days to a few weeks. Minnesota is one of the larger state fairs, but other fairs across the country also hire many short-term workers.

Would you rather receive this newsletter later in the day? Over the past few months, I've heard from a few folks who say the newsletter's arrival wakes them in the middle of the night. I'm wondering how many people this bothers. Do you like having the newsletter sent Saturday night or early Sunday morning, or would you prefer it to arrive later on Sunday?

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

JR Watkins - A Location Independent Business for RVers

September Incentive from Watkins: Enroll this month and Watkins will send you a $20 gift certificate to use on Watkins products of your choice. Bob and I have been selling JR Watkins products since 2005. People love the vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper, the old time remedies, and the natural skin care products - and that makes it easy to sell. The business is extremely flexible. You do as much or as little as you want. No minimum orders. They'll drop-ship the products for you. Work the business wherever your RV travels take you -- USA or Canada. See the product catalog and learn more.

Working RVer Tip -- Interview Prospective Employers

A job interview is a two-way street. Before the interview, check the employer's website. At the interview, ask questions. You are interviewing the employer as much as the employer is interviewing you.

I posted a graphic on our Facebook page with the following:

It received comments about retirement. However, it isn't necessary to wait until retirement. Find or create work now that adds value and pleasure to your life -- work that you enjoy doing. Some of us live our jobs because we love our jobs. The link below goes to an article about RVers whose job makes them happy -- they are musicians and entertainers.

Working RVer Tip -- Gut Instincts

If a job doesn't feel right, it probably isn't right. Your gut instinct is usually spot-on in knowing what is a good match for you. The location, the salary, and the duties can all be right. The people can be really nice. And, yet, there can be something about the position that your gut senses is wrong.

Working RVer Tip -- Make It Plain and Simple

When sending in an ad or resume, use a basic, common type font, such Times New Roman. Use normal, proper capitalization and punctuation. Skip fancy bullets and designs. Use a single space between words and sentences. Automatic programs don't always know how to translate the cutesy fonts, funky coding, and extra spaces, so they strip them out. It can result in your ad being all run together as one long word.
