Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Last week, I mentioned the shortage of seasonal workers in Alaska. We had some inquires as to where in Alaska we are this summer and where there are jobs.

Our home base is near Soldotna, on the Kenai Peninsula. We have a second hand store there. However, we aren't there all the time. This past week, we enjoyed time in Homer.

As for jobs, from what I've seen and the reports I am getting, there are seasonal and temporary jobs throughout Alaska. The exception is in some of the rural villages. We've seen numerous Help Wanted signs when we've been in Fairbanks, Tok, Valdez, Palmer, Anchorage, Seward, Homer, Haines, Ketchikan, Soldotna, and other communities. They are hiring!

Have a safe and fun-filled 4th of July weekend. Independence is a wonderful thing. Thank those responsible for your freedom.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

JR Watkins - A Location Independent Business for RVers

Bob and I have been selling JR Watkins products since 2005. People love the vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper, the old time remedies, and the natural skin care products - and that makes it easy to sell. The business is extremely flexible. You do as much or as little as you want. No minimum orders. They'll drop-ship the products for you. Work the business wherever your RV travels take you -- USA or Canada. See the product catalog and learn more.

Working RVer Tip: Make Your Help Wanted Ad and Resume Easy to Read

Use proper capitalization and punctuation in your help wanted ads and resumes. If you are applying for a job cleaning toilets, your writing skills aren't an employer's biggest concern. However, if you write your ad in all lower case or all upper case letters, it is difficult to read. If your ad is hard to read, many employers won't bother to give it a second look.

Job Titles - Don't Assume They Describe the Position You Envision

Job titles may or may not tell you about the actual job duties. Your idea of what a "manager," "camp host," or "caretaker," is may not be the same as the person's who placed the Help Wanted ad.
