Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Have you smiled yet today? Even better, have you had a good laugh?

Laughter is internal jogging. Laughing has benefits similar to jogging. According to the Mayo Clinic website, laughter…
  • Stimulates your heart, lungs, and muscles.
  • Soothes tension.
  • Improves your immune system.
  • Relieves pain.
  • Increases personal satisfaction.
  • Makes it easier to cope with difficult situations.
  • Helps you connect with other people.
What does this have to do with working while RVing? Well, read through that list again. It says that laughter makes you a healthier, happier person. And that makes you a better worker, whether employee or volunteer.

Good morale is vital to most campgrounds, business offices, retail stores, and other places where RVers work. Be the employee that is always in a good mood, spreading some cheer. This doesn't mean you need to be (or should be) the "class clown." It just means that putting a smile on your face and having a positive outlook is a whole lot better than being the complaining grump.

And, it doesn't hurt to have a couple jokes up your sleeve to share some laughs at appropriate times.

Which reminds me…

The couple in the motorhome next door have three new puppies. She had them out for their walk the other day and I went out to admire them. She was telling me their names. The little black one, she named him "Thunder," because he is the loudest. The little white one, she named him "Lightening," because he is the fastest. Okay, that makes sense. The little spotted one, she named him "Liberace." Liberace? Yes, she explained, because, he is the peeanist.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tidbit -- National Public Lands Day

Over 30 percent of America's land is public land. On September 30, 2017, as part of the National Environmental Education Foundation National Public Lands Day (NPLD), entrance fees are waived at federal parks and some state parks.

National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands.

The following is from National Environmental Education Foundation's website: "To encourage people to join in and visit their public lands, NPLD is a fee-free day for all federal public lands and many state parks. Whether you volunteer on NPLD, enjoy some boating, hiking, fishing, or camping, or simply learn more about your public lands and the plants and wildlife that live there, we invite you to take this day to enjoy the great outdoors and celebrate the lands that give us so much."

National Public Lands Day is sponsored by Toyota Motor North America.
