Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

The hardest part of being a working RVer is taking time to work. Finding work is easy enough, whether you seek employment or have an RV based business. Pulling yourself away from the sightseeing, golf, fishing, hiking, or whatever else catches your attention on the road isn't so easy.

Bob and I are currently in the Black Hills. We're staying in a quiet, secluded spot, on the farm of friends. These friends collect old farm machinery, from a steam-operated shovel to old-time threshing machines. Staying here is like being immersed in a living history farm museum. Looking out my motorhome window, besides the old farm implements, we see wild turkeys, deer, rabbits, blue jays, blue birds, robins, woodpeckers, red-headed birds that I have yet to identify, and other birds that are sharing their habitat with us. Add in a few tourist attractions and some great restaurants, and you can understand why Bob and I certainly aren't working as much as we could.

On the other hand, because of the scenic beauty, the stress-free environment, and the mostly moderate temperatures, the time we do spend working is productive. And, it us most enjoyable.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally: Thousands of Short-Term Jobs for RVers

Here's how I got started working at the Sturgis motorcycle rally. Several years back, I was riding my motorcycle through Spearfish, South Dakota, and stopped at an independent motorcycle repair shop. I really didn’t need anything, but like to stop just to look and see what’s new. I’d been to the shop two or three times before, once to buy a tube for my rear tire.

Working RVer Tip -- Friendly, But Not Necessarily Friends

Your employer's primary role is to be your leader, supervisor, or boss. It is not to be your friend. The work environment can be friendly, but that's not the same as expecting management and co-workers to be your buddies.

Something to Think About

You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage--pleasantly, smilingly, nonapologetically--to say "no" to other things. ~ Stephen Covey

Remember each experience for the good that has come of it and for the knowledge you have gained. ~ Taylor Addison
