Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Two days at the dentist in Mexico, and we've accomplished what it would have taken umpteen visits over a course of who-knows-how-many months in the states. We had major work done, so we are still healing. But, so far, it's been a positive experience. We went to Nuevo Progreso, which is near Weslaco, Texas. We'll be reporting more on this over the coming weeks.

Employers, what do you want in working RVers? We are building a section on the Workers On Wheels website with articles from the employer's perspective. If you have thoughts to share, contact me.

Remember in between newsletters, you can find announcements, website updates, and the newest job postings here.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip - Play It Save With a Trial Run

If you are getting ready to start full-time RVing and working on the road, you might do a test run with a position close to your present home. If you are uncertain about how things will go, this gives you a chance to get some full-time RV living experience, without the unknowns of a new area, such as finding an RV dealer for last minute modifications.

Coleen Recommends

These are businesses that Bob and I work, that I personally know to be worthwhile. The products are excellent. The companies are great to work with and are in the USA. The support and training is exceptional.

JR Watkins Product Sales - To help you get started, enroll in March and get a $20 Watkins gift certificate. Be the modern "Watkins man," or "Watkins woman!" People love and want these great products -- and use them every day.  Find out more.

Jerky Direct - Join our Jerky Direct team and receive a free bag of natural jerky with your training, because the best way to sell the jerky is to taste it. There is no sign up fee to become a distributor. More into here.

One Minute Business - In additional to your regular commissions and bonuses, you can get a free, all expenses paid luxury trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Simple, 2-steps. Uses social media. Details here.

Working RVer Tip - It's a Job Interview, So Focus on Your Ability to Do the Job

When interviewing for a job, stress your training, skills, experiences, and achievements that relate to the job. Prospective employers don't need the details about the intelligence of your grand babies or the cuteness of your dog. They do need to know why they should hire you.

Earn Your Living with a Blog or Website

A blog or website is yet another way to earn a living without being tied to one location. Your blog can be about most anything. Picking a topic that you enjoy can make it seem more like fun than work. Still, you have to figure out a way to make money with it. Working RVer Tip - Dealing with Problems on the Job

When something doesn't go right at work, you don't necessarily need to "shut-up and take it." Choose a time and place when you can reasonably and respectfully discuss the matter with your supervisor. That means be calm. Don't make threats. Don't do it in front of customers or other staff.

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

Vehicle Age Restrictions

~~ An RVer asks: Does the age of the RV limit available work? What's wrong with older RV's? I recently acquired a 1977, 26-foot Class A motorhome. The previous owner took very good care of this vehicle. Outside of the typical '70s motif, it looks and runs great. Surprisingly enough, everything works and it doesn't leak oil.

Am I to assume I cannot find a work camper job, or am very limited, because of the vehicle's age?

~~ I answered in part: No. The age of the recreational vehicle should have little (or nothing) to do with your ability to find a job.

We have a poll on the website asking our readers if they have ever been turned down for a job because of the age of their RV. As I write this, only about 10 percent indicated they had been.

~~ Read the longer version of my answer on the website.

Working RVer Tip - Recharge Your Personal Batteries Every Day

Take 30 minutes each day for self-development. Listen to motivational CDs. Read an up lifting book. Read your Bible. Meditate. Whatever it is, do something that inspires you and gives you a lift.

Positive RVing Attitudes

Let him that would move the world, first move himself. ~ Socrates

We are always more anxious to be distinguished for a talent which we do not possess, than to be praised for the fifteen which we do possess. ~ Mark Twain
