Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

We're sending this out late in the day because there was a backlog of jobs to post. We wanted to get caught up on that, so you had the information prior to the mid-week update.

Employers: If you sent in a Help Wanted and it isn't posted, something went wrong. Try submitting again. Most likely it is because you forgot to enter some required information, such as the location of the job. Submit here.

Bob and I are in Port Isabel, Texas. That's in south Texas, about as far as you can go and still be in Texas. The weather is sunny and 70. The shrimp are fresh and sweet. The sunsets are brilliant pink and coral red. I think we'll stick around for another couple weeks.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip - Knowing Why You Are a Full-Time RVer

Why are you a full-time RVer? Answer that question and it will tell you what kind of work is best for you. Examples: If you are RVing so that you can travel at will, then you may find working for a temp agency best. If you are RVing so you can spend lots of time with other RVers, then it is logical to work in a campground. However, if you want to escape the hassle of doing home maintenance and yard work, then an outside job at a campground job probably isn't a good choice for you. If your goal is to devote hours to fishing, then look at jobs with easy access to fishing waters. If you are full-timing because you don't want to be part of the corporate rat-race, because you don't want someone else to tell you how to use your time, then self-employment may be right for you.

Working RVer Tip - It's Not Forever

A short-term job isn't necessarily a lifetime career. Keep that in mind before turning down job offers that are less than perfect. Some jobs that you wouldn't want to do for years on end can be fun to do for a few weeks.

Earn Your Living with a Blog or Website

A blog or website is yet another way to earn a living without being tied to one location. Your blog can be about most anything. Picking a topic that you enjoy can make it seem more like fun than work. Still, you have to figure out a way to make money with it. If you'd like to see some examples of how of how others are going about it, see the case studies on SiteBuildIt!

Working RVer Tip - Keep Calm Is More than a T-shirt Saying

When things go wrong on the job, respond calmly. Take a deep breath and access the situation. Blowing up in anger is most likely only going to make the problem worse. Spreading not-quite-true tales about the employer or his business are likely not going to help your situation, either.

Working RVer Tip - Be Prepared for Impromptu Job Interviews

Be ready for on-the-spot job interviews. You never know when an employer may call you and want to do an interview right there and then, on the phone call. Or, your intention may be to just drop of an application, but the interview takes a quick glance and decides he wants to immediately know more about you and your skills. Be prepared.
