Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

I wish I could be in three places at once. The Martin Accordion factory in Lafayette, the Rip Van Winkle Gardens in New Iberia, the Wedell-Williams Memorial Aviation & Cypress Sawmill Museum, Patterson…those and more were on our list of places to see before we left Louisiana. But, if we were ever going to get to Texas, we knew we needed to get going.

Entering Texas, we stopped at the visitor's center. My head swirled as I looked at brochures beckoning me to Galveston, San Antonio, and communities in every corner of Texas. We slipped through Galveston, stopping long enough for fish tacos and scrumptious sweet shrimp and avocado salad at Shrimp and Stuff. I wanted to stay…but I also want to get to Port Isabel. Today, we are in the Corpus Christi area. We could spend weeks here, but that would mean not being able to be somewhere else…. Oh, the decisions we must make as working RVers!

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip - Participate In Campground Activities

Take part in the workplace social life. Attend the work camper pot-luck. Lend a hand at the ice-cream social, even if you aren't on official duty. Go to camper talent night and sing along with the group. These activities make you visible. They help you bond with other workers, the customers, and the management.

Working RVer Tip - Go Where They Do the Work You Want to Do

Go where they do the kind of work you like to do. Bob stopped by a mechanic’s shop to ask a question; he came home with a job offer. If you like to do cake decorating, by your supplies at a bakery. If you like to do alterations, find a reason to visit a dry cleaners or a wedding boutique.

Earn Your Living with a Blog or Website

A blog or website is yet another way to earn a living without being tied to one location. Your blog can be about most anything. Picking a topic that you enjoy can make it seem more like fun than work. Still, you have to figure out a way to make money with it. If you'd like to see some examples of how of how others are going about it, see the case studies on SiteBuildIt!

Working RVer Tip - Work Schedule

When can you work? When are you willing to work? The more flexible you can be with your schedule, the better. But, if you need to have a particular day off, or if you know you can't stay awake to work nights, be up front about when asked.
