Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Happy Independence Day! We hope that you are enjoying this glorious Fourth of July weekend.

What more appropriate holiday is there for RVers? Many of us choose full-time RVing because of the sense of freedom it gives us. Weekend campers go RVing to escape the confines of regular routine.

We thank both active and retired military for the work you've done for our independence.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip - Find the Campground's Flavor

No, I'm not talking ice cream. I'm referring to the campgrounds atmosphere, its attitude, its culture. Does it cater to oil field workers, young families with kids, or mature couples? Are the activities geared to an athletic crowd or those wishing to kick back and relax with a cocktail? Are evenings filled with rowdy laughter around a campfire or do folks retire early to watch a movie inside? Find out about these kinds of things before you accept a job. They are more important than knowing how many sites a park has or what awards it has won.

Answering Your Questions - Finding Enjoyable Work

~~ Gayle asks: What would be the best way to apply for employment that I would enjoy?

I am looking for a working camping position. I am very interested in history.

~~ I answered in part: Frame your interests and what you enjoy as assets. When writing your ad and resume, don't just list what you want and enjoy. Instead, show prospective employers how those interests would benefit them.

For instance, you might suggest that your interest in history would make you an ideal candidate for a park's interpretive program. You might point out that while you are willing to do whatever needs doing, you would have a special enthusiasm for giving tours and sharing the park's history with its guests.

Do a bit of research to get an idea of which campgrounds have a rich history that is particularly interesting to you.

~~ Read the longer version of my answer on the website.

Jerky Direct - The Meat Snack Business

I was admonished the other day for saying we are in the meat snack business. Laugh if you will. The money is real. So are the meat snacks. A real product and a real profit -- what more could you ask from a simple business that's fun to do and allows you to travel and work from anywhere in the USA. To see if the meat snack business is right for you, click through here.

Volunteer Work Opportunities for RVers

Unpaid work campers typically exchange their labors for an RV site and other benefits. It's natural to think that RVers help in camp settings, such as the campgrounds in state and national parks. And they do. But, it goes far beyond camp hosting and park work. Working RVers build homes and churches. They tend animals. They volunteer at museums and historical sites. They donate their time and effort for causes that are important to them.

The rewards are many.
