Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

At least two oil patch security companies are hiring gate guards who can start now -- OverWatch and J&G Security. Amazon.com is hiring for fall, with positions at several locations. New to our pages is City Magnet, a company that does something for magnets similar to what AGS and Southeast Publications do to campground maps. And of course, campground continue looking for working RVers, with start dates all through the year.

Alaska, the land of the midnight sun. And, yes, literally at midnight, it is still light outside. Tomorrow, we start losing daylight.

We've been in Homer, Alaska, again. I wrote some about in our RV Life and Travel Newsletter. I also posted some pictures. If you are interested, you can find it here.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip - Catch the Good Luck of Successful People

Develop a network of positive, successful people. Their "good luck" will rub off on you. Actually, it's their positive attitude and appropriate actions, but the point's the same. Their good outlook and good habits set good examples for you to follow.

Working RVer Tip - Diversify

Have at least two income streams. This adds both variety and security to your life. Examples: A camp host who does computer repair. A property caretaker who makes jewelry to sell at flea markets. A website designer who also does square dance calling.

Earn Your Living with a Blog or Website

A blog or website is yet another way to earn a living without being tied to one location. Your blog can be about most anything. Picking a topic that you enjoy can make it seem more like fun than work. Still, you have to figure out a way to make money with it. If you'd like to see some examples of how of how others are going about it, see the case studies on SiteBuildIt!

Working RVer Tip - Nix the Naysayers

Don't believe the naysayers who tell you that you can't find a job. It could be that they can't find a job because they don't want one, or because they aren't looking for one. It could also be that they can't find a job because they have a negative attitude. Jobs are available.

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered - Maintenance Worker Wages

~~ Nate asks: What would be the average hourly wage for a person who has 35 years of residential and commercial maintenance experience, mainly refrigeration and electrical background?

~~ I answered in part: Asking for average wages for maintenance workers on the road is like asking how much it costs to go out for dinner. Depends if you go to the fast food restaurant and pick from the value menu or if you go for elegant fine dining with wine and a gourmet meal.

Do you plan to work with a contractor who is required to pay Davis-Bacon wages? Do you plan to work union jobs? Do you plan to work for a temp staffing service? Do you plan to work at a campground in exchange for a campsite? All those are realistic options for working RVers. You know from your experience that there's a vast range in the pay scale of those choices.

~~ Read the longer version of my answer on the website.
