Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Now hiring! The bakery. The gas station. The hardware store. The grocery store. The sporting goods shop. Restaurants. The company that contracts with the schools to provide bus service. All these businesses are hiring seasonal workers. They are all advertising with signs in their windows, on their doors, on their marquees, or with large banners. When you arrive in town (any town) and need work, take a drive through the business community. Look. You'll see those signs, too.

We ordered new tires for our trailer this week. The old ones still have decent tread, but they are cracking from old age. As the foundation of our home on wheels, they need replacing. I'm thankful Bob does regular maintenance and that he is very safety minded.

Please take time to check the tires on your RV home. New ones are expensive, for sure. But, not replacing them when they need it can be even more costly. Travel safely!

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Flight Seeing Tours in Alaska

Flight seeing tour companies hire numerous seasonal workers each summer. No, that's not a typo for "sightseeing." It really is supposed to be "flight" seeing. Maybe it is just an Alaskan thing.

Working RVer Tip - Jobs for the Public Are Jobs for RVers

Jobs open to the general public are also open to RVers. However, the reverse is not always true. Some jobs are exclusively for RVers, usually because they require you to provide your own on-site living accommodations in a recreational vehicle. When looking for job leads, check the non-RV specific resources, also.

Working RVer Tip - Jobs Are Jobs

Jobs for RVers and campers are…jobs. You'll need to work, regardless of how fun the job or how beautiful the area. You'll be earning money (and/or saving on your RV site rental costs). And for that, your employer or volunteer agency supervisor expects you to perform your assigned duties.

Writing a Good Work Wanted Ad

~ State your skills and accomplishments relevant to the job you want. It is easy to write that you are responsible, a hard worker, and can handle all aspects of the job. What employer will believe it? After all, have you ever seen an employee describe himself as a not-too-bright, irresponsible deadbeat? Be specific.

~ Focus on your talents and capacity to do the job. Do your age, marital status, pets, children, type of RV, and home state have anything to do with improving your ability to do the work you seek? Are they relevant to the job for which you are applying? If not, don’t mention them.

~ Your ad is a sample of your communication skills. Proofread and correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes. The way you write your ad says more about your communication skills than any words you use to describe them. Rather than telling the employer you have good communications skills, let your Work Wanted ad or resume show them.

Earn Your Living with a Blog or Website

A blog or website is yet another way to earn a living without being tied to one location. Your blog can be about most anything. Picking a topic that you enjoy can make it seem more like fun than work. Still, you have to figure out a way to make money with it. If you'd like to see some examples of how of how others are going about it, see the case studies on SiteBuildIt!

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. ~ Mother Teresa
