We upgraded the Work-for-RVers-and-Campers.com and RV-Life-and-Travel.com websites this week to make them mobile-friendly. They should now be much easier to read on your cell phones and tablets. We're in the process of cleaning up the sites, removing clutter, organizing better, and adding more articles. It's definitely a work in progress.
The reoccurring message I'm hearing from campground owners is, "Help! The folks I hired cancelled and we need RVers who can start work immediately." Positions that were full weeks or months ago may be open today. Now is an excellent time to find work for this spring or the coming summer.
Cleaning my files, I came across an editorial I wrote back in 2009. It is as true today as it was then.
"It's 11:00 on Saturday night.
I'm writing this newsletter. Bob's fixing some tools that we picked up earlier today at a garage sale, and that we will resell. I guess that means we're still working, because both of these activities bring us income.
But.… What do I like to do in my free time?
Well… I write. I can spend hours writing and answering questions and enjoy every minute of it. Helping our readers is extremely satisfying for me. And, Bob? He fixes. He gets his thrills from taking something that's broken and making it work as good as, or better than, new.
When you don't know for sure if you are working or playing, you've probably found a job that is a good fit for you. Thankfully, we have."
We're fortunate that our work can be mobile. That we can do it wherever our RV takes us, whether that is at our home-base in Alaska, in the Texas Rio Grande
Valley, or some place in between.
We hope that you have, or will find, work that you enjoy as much.
Remember, in between newsletters, you can find the newest job postings here. Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish
you joy and prosperity,Coleen= = = = =Working RVer Tip - Cute Is For Kittens, Not Resumes

These are businesses that Bob and I work, that I personally know to be
worthwhile. The products are excellent. The companies are great to work with and are in the USA. The support and training is exceptional.

Ways RVers Make Money
Here's a sampling of work RVers are doing to cut their expenses, earn a living, and pay for their travels.
~ Cook at summer camp
~ Fire tower lookout
~ Auto shop stocker
~ Campground manager
~ Freelance programmer
Working in a campground is not rocket science. Find a
campground you like and ask for a job. Tell the manager what you can do, your skills and abilities. Ask if he needs your services. You can spend weeks, months, years even, reading and studying about how to be a working RVer -- and doing so can be fun! But, all that studying is probably more apt to lead you to broke than it is to a job. If rocket science is your profession -- and yes, there are short-term rocket science jobs for RVers -- contact companies (including specialized temporary staffing
services) that hire rocket scientists. You can spend endless time researching the possibilities for the "perfect" job, but it may be best to get an "okay" job to support yourself in the meantime.

Earn Your Living with a Blog or WebsiteA blog or website is yet another way to earn a living without
being tied to one location. Your blog can be about most anything. Picking a topic that you enjoy can make it seem more like fun than work. Still, you have to figure out a way to make money with it. If you'd like to see some examples of how of how others are going about it, see the case studies on SiteBuildIt! = = = = =

Small engine repair and maintenance is a practical way RVers
with mechanical knowledge can earn a living. There's a definite need for it and the required tools are small enough to carry with you.
Most campgrounds have lawn mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, and similar gas powered equipment. Chances are high that those tools need routine maintenance and a good cleaning. It's also
likely that one or more of them needs repairs.
Your typical campground owner is busy. He may know that keeping his power equipment in good shape is important. But, even if he knows how to do it, he probably has a hard time finding the time to do it. He'll appreciate a capable RVer who is onsite, with tools, and who
offers to do the job.
Working RVer Tip - Short-Term Schoolyard Hosting
If you are
looking for short work camping assignments, consider being a camp host at a schoolyard. You may be welcome for stays at short as two weeks. This is especially true if after your two weeks is done you then move to another school within the district.
