Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Bob and I are in Branson, Missouri. (Well, Hollister, to be exact, but it is just across the bridge from Branson.) We visited friends in Rapid City, SD. We visited family in the Dakotas. We spent Thanksgiving with family and friends in Wyoming. We are now working our way further south for the winter.

There is so much to see and do here. I've already heard from several working in the area. One couple is working at Bass Pro. Another's family is working at Silver Dollar City. One neighbor here at the park (Turkey Creek RV Village - an Escapee park) is driving Trolley. The "Queen of Swing" is parked in the next site over. And, of course, the campground is staffed with working RVers. We'll have more about the work available in the area in next weekend's newsletter.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip - Spell Things Out for Clear Communication

Abbreviations and acronyms shorten up your Work Wanted and Help Wanted advertisements, and your resumes. They also make them more difficult to understand. You may be surprised to find out just how many people who live in recreational vehicles or work in (or own) campgrounds don't know the short hand that you take for granted. "FHU" is a good example. It should be spelled out as "full hook-up (FHU)" the first time you use it in your communications.

Working RVer Tip

Attending and taking part in activities at one campground is a good way to find out what is available at other campgrounds in the area. Someone else attending the activity may be currently staying at another park, or may have stayed there previously. Visit about the parks, ask what is going on, and think about what services you can offer.

Working RVer Tip - Wages, Plus Tips

With customer service jobs, the money you get in tips can easily be more than your wages. Tips make up a good part of the income for tour guides, bus drivers, hunting and fishing guides, restaurant staff, water taxi drivers, deck hands, housekeepers, entertainers, pizza delivery drivers, and beauticians.
