Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Motel 6 left the lights on for us. But, it never felt quite like home. Yesterday, we bought another motorhome. Bob and I have been traveling sans RV for nearly three weeks -- we left ours in Alaska when we headed out on this trip. The first five nights were on the Alaska Marine Hwy, taking the ferry from Whittier, Alaska, to Bellingham, Washington. We then traveled by SUV and did the motel thing for nearly two weeks. We are now in our travel trailer, which we have at a friend's in South Dakota. We don't want to take the trailer with us, and we don't want to continue our travels staying at motels. So, our solution was buying a used, 22-foot, Lazy Daze Class C motorhome.

We also went phone shopping. Our GCS wireless phone service was supposed to work in the Lower 48. Much of the time, it did not. We are working RVers who depend on Internet access and mobile phone communications. We are now Verizon customers. We'll let you know how they work as we cross the Midwest and head south.

We learned two things while shopping for a phone service. One is that not all phone numbers are transferable to a different cellular carrier. Verizon would not port our GCI numbers to our new service. The other thing we learned is that pre-paid customers receive a lesser cell signal than those who are on the regular plan. The Verizon rep explained that as we were comparing the various service options.

I have numerous trip pictures and notes to post on our RV Life and Travel website. Sign up to get those updates at RV-Life-and-Travel.com.

All of the Help Wanted ads featured in this issue were posted this past week.
