Bob and I are currently in Montana. We're spending some time in Deer Lodge. The museum complex makes up a large part of town -- the prison museum, an auto museum, a railroad display, Yesterday's Playthings museum, and the Pioneer Museum. We couldn't fit them all into one day, so we are heading back
to them again tomorrow. Antique stores and second hand shops abound, and we've browsed many of them. We found a bakery that makes pasties, a hearty, handheld meat pie. Lunch today included huckleberry pie -- huckleberries may be the state fruit of Idaho, but they are a Montana favorite, too. Deer nibble spilled grain near the railroad tracks.
In each weekend edition of this newsletter, we include a five-item list: Ways RVers Make Money. Many of those jobs are things YOU would never do. But, you know what? Those are precisely the jobs that are a great fit for someone else. We tell you about all kinds of work, because RVers are all kinds of people.
And, yes, really, catching and selling frogs is legitimate. I've done it. It was profitable.

Working
RVer Tip - Look to Past Employers
If your previous employer does seasonal hiring, you may be ahead of other applicants. If they don't have to spend time and money training you, that is a definite advantage.

= = = = = Working RVer Tip - Business Card Help Wanted Ads
Bob and I went to Red Lobster for dinner the other evening. On the way out, he
handed me a business card he had picked up. That didn't surprise me, because we often take a business card for reference. But this is not a regular business card. It is a Help Wanted ad. The card includes a special website address for job applicants -- www.redlobster.quick-apply.com. It also has a QR code to scan and apply with your smart
phone.

~~ An RVer writes:
Some RV park owners practice total snobbery. They only want someone who is driving a million dollar motorhome.
Why someone who has that kind of money would be looking for a camping job is beyond me.
~~ I replied in part: "Birds of a feather flock together." Have you heard the phrase? Some RVers who drive the expensive motorhomes want to park exclusively with others driving similar coaches. They create a demand for the exclusive, motorhome only, RV parks.
That doesn't make the park owners snobs. It makes them business owners who provide a service RVers want and are willing to pay for. It is understandable that they would want their staff's rig to blend in with that of their clientele.
People driving those
expensive rigs need jobs for the same reasons anyone else does. Money to make their motorcoach payments is one reason. Cutting their campground costs by volunteering may be what makes it possible for them to afford those rigs. Or, again, just like people driving the less fancy rigs, they want to stay busy, contribute to society, use their skills, gain new skills, or simply be productive citizens.

Positive RVing Attitudes
I push myself around only because I
know the edge is more exciting than the restful center. For me, the thing is not to have things; it's to do things. ~ Larl Lagerfeld
I would rather live precariously in my own office than comfortably in someone else's. ~ Peter Mayle
