Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

There seems to be no end to the ways RVers can earn a living. I started making a list, to see if I could come up with 1001 different types of work for RVers. So far, I'm at 2988. Some of the jobs require advanced college degrees and specialized training. For others, the main qualification is the willingness to do the job.

Since this is a personal update, I thought I'd make a list of the various kinds of work Bob and I have done since we started full-timing. For those of you who don't know, that was back in April of 1992. A quick, off-the-top-of-my-head list has us at 41 different types of work. We're most always doing several concurrently.

If you'd like to share your working while RVing story with us and our readers, please do.

Remember, in between newsletters, you can find the newest job postings here.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip

You found your perfect job - but the position was already filled. Don't just brush it off. Check back with the employer or work camper manager. You may find the job is now available. Health problems and personal circumstances cause RVers to change their plans. Teachers, students, and those who are itchy to move on leave end-of-season openings. With Labor Day weekend behind us, there are short-term positions to fill to finish off the season.

The Jerky Business that Lets You Be Location Independent

Campground jobs are convenient, if you want to stay in one place for a month or longer. But, if your desire is to be truly nomadic and to move frequently, you need something else. One location independent way to earn a living is to join me in Jerky Direct. Natural and organic jerky. No sign-up fee. No website fee. Our training is specific, practical, and RVer tested.

Working RVer Tip

Structure your resume to show what you can do for the employer. The same with your Work Wanted ads. Employers hire people to meet their wants and needs - not yours. It might be nice to know what you want, but it is important to know what the person doing the hiring wants.

Earn Your Living with a Blog or Website

A blog or website is yet another way to earn a living without being tied to one location. Your blog can be about most anything. Picking a topic that you enjoy can make it seem more like fun than work. Still, you have to figure out a way to make money with it. If you'd like to see some examples of how of how others are going about it, see the case studies on SiteBuildIt!

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

List Making Can Help You Find A Job You'd Enjoy

Q. All I've ever done is what I do at my career job. How do I figure out what I'd like to do on the road to earn some extra money?

A. List the things you enjoy doing in your leisure time (or would like to if you had leisure time). Next, make a list of the things you know how to do (or could reasonably learn to do). Then, cross the two and see what overlaps. Finally, look at how you could you make money doing some of those things.

Another Location Independent Business for RVers

Bob and I have been working with this respected home business since 2005, though the company has been around since 1868 (yes, more than 140 years!). People love the vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper, the old time remedies, and the natural skin care products - and that makes it easy to sell. It's extremely flexible. You do as much or as little as you want -- no monthly minimums. And, you can work the business wherever your RV travels take you.

Positive RVing Attitudes

Freedom in general may be defined as the absence of obstacles to the realization of desires. ~ Bertrand Russell

It isn't hard being good from time to time. What's tough is being good every day. ~ Willie Mays

Correction: When attributing a quote in the Sept. 7, Issue #913, I misspelled the author's name. I apologize for that error. Here is the corrected quote:

Smart is when you believe half of what you hear. Brilliant is when you know which half. ~ Robert Orben
