Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

If you are a planner, you will love this. We are already posting campground Help Wanted ads for next summer. Personally, I can't imagine making a job commitment that far in advance of the start date. But, as the saying goes, "different strokes for different folks."

Speaking of different strokes....

It's a good thing there is such a wide variety of work for RVers. You'd get a kick out of my email. One person lets me know he's upset with campground owners who offer work-for-site exchanges. He thinks we should only post jobs that pay wages for all hours worked and include an RV site. The next complains that we are posting too many Help Wanted ads that are for paying jobs that pay living wages. They want a camp host position where they visit with guests and help a little now and then in exchange for being part of the campground family. Some tell me the oilfield gate guard jobs are super. You can earn thousands of dollars a month, have your site and utilities provided for you, and they view the work as easy. Another tells me the gate guard jobs are equivalent to slave labor, as you "work" 24 hours a day, with no days off, and it isn't "camping." Ah, viva la difference!

Fortunately, there are all sorts of jobs, for all sorts of RVers.

Remember, in between newsletters, you can find the newest job postings here.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip

Saying you are "retired" in your Help Wanted ad tells prospective employers that you are not looking for a real job, with real work and real pay.

The Jerky Business that Lets You Be Location Independent

Campground jobs are convenient, if you want to stay in one place for a month or longer. But, if your desire is to be truly nomadic and to move frequently, you need something else. One location independent way to earn a living is to join me in Jerky Direct. Natural and organic jerky. No sign-up fee. No website fee. Our training is specific, practical, and RVer tested.

Earn Your Living with a Blog or Website

A blog or website is yet another way to earn a living without being tied to one location. Your blog can be about most anything. Picking a topic that you enjoy can make it seem more like fun than work. Still, you have to figure out a way to make money with it. If you'd like to see some examples of how of how others are going about it, see the case studies on SiteBuildIt!

Working RVer Tip

If a potential employer does not give you a written job description, you can prepare one yourself. When you have put it together, show it to the employer and ask for input and clarification. It can then be signed by both of you, as part of your employment agreement.

Harvest and Agricultural Jobs

Now's a good time to look at some of the options for seasonal work with harvest crews and other ag related jobs. The Midwest grain harvest, the North Dakota and Wyoming sugar beet harvests, picking apples in the Pacific Northwest, managing pumpkin lots or Christmas tree lots...those are just the tip of the iceberg. The following articles on the Workers On Wheels website have many more suggestions for you.

Another Location Independent Business for RVers

Bob and I have been working with this respected home business since 2005, though the company has been around since 1868 (yes, more than 140 years!). People love the vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper, the old time remedies, and the natural skin care products - and that makes it easy to sell. It's extremely flexible. You do as much or as little as you want -- no monthly minimums. And, you can work the business wherever your RV travels take you.

Positive RVing Attitudes

Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself. ~ Leo Tolstoy

Nothing contributes so much to tranquilizing the mind as a steady purpose - a point on which the soul may fix its intellectual eye. ~ Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
