Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

The newsletters were off schedule this past week. To those of you who noticed, inquired, and expressed your concerns - thank you! It's nice to know you miss the newsletter and job updates when they don't show up as expected. It is extra nice to know you care enough about us to email and ask what's going on and if we are okay.

Here's the scoop....

Bob had an incident with his eye. We made multiple visits to the eye doctor. It turns out he had something imbedded in his eyelid that was scratching his cornea. The pain has now greatly subsided. His vision is clearing. We are both grateful and relived.

I also changed over to a different computer. It always takes me longer to get the new one set up than I think it should - lots longer. This time was no exception. I think the new one is now good to go!

Even when you don't get the newsletter, you can find the newest job postings here.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip

If you choose to travel a long distance for the sole purpose of a job, have a "Plan B." If the job doesn't pan out for you, what will you do? It happens. Often.

The Jerky Business that Lets You Be Location Independent

Campground jobs are convenient, if you want to stay in one place for a month or longer. But, if your desire is to be truly nomadic and to move frequently, you need something else. One location independent way to earn a living is to join me in Jerky Direct. Our training is specific, practical, and RVer tested.

Resume Writing Tip

Stick to simple. Use the same size and type of font throughout your resume. Ornate formatting, using a variety of fonts and font sizes, using colored inks, underlining, bolding, and using italics are distracting. They make your resume look as though you are trying to hide your lack of qualifications behind the fancy façade. Use a consistent fo

Earn Your Living with a Blog or Website

A blog or website is yet another way to earn a living without being tied to one location. Your blog can be about most anything. Picking a topic that you enjoy can make it seem more like fun than work. Still, you have to figure out a way to make money with it. If you'd like to see some examples of how of how others are going about it, see the case studies on SiteBuildIt!

Working RVer Tip - Study the Campground's Website

Spend some time looking at the campground's website before you commit to working there. You can learn a lot about them by doing so. Who is their target market - families with young kids or senior adults? Are they an overnight stopping point, a place for family vacations, or a seasonal destination? What activities do (or don't) they mention? Seeing what they emphasize on their site can tell you about their values.

Volunteer Groups that Build Houses, Churches, Etc.

We sometimes get asked how to go about volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, SOWERS, or  other Christian groups that do building projects. I've assembled a list of the groups, along with some info about each. It includes contact info for them. If I've missed some, please send me the information about them.

Another Location Independent Business for RVers

Bob and I have been working with Watkins and the Summit Group since 2005. People love Watkins vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper - and that makes it easy to sell. It's extremely flexible. You do as much or as little as you want. And, you can work the business wherever your RV travels take you.
